Every year, I make it a priority to update my resume. Regardless if I had a promotion or change in position, it matters not. I have been meaning to update for 2009 and I came across this article on Squawkfox offering resume writing tips. Particularly, I found this article especially helpful because no matter how prideful I am of my current resume format and presentation, I fall victim to these generic phrases and words described in the article.
I have received numerous compliments on my resume because of its presentation and colors but now I want to make the content stick and stand out, as opposed to sucking. I am a strong believer that a resume needs to appear as good as its content. No matter how strong your content is, it needs to be presented in a manner that makes the HR manager/admin want to give it a once over for consideration. Pair it together with not using some sucky words/phrases recommended in the article, you will be better prepared in this suffering job market.
As for my personal reason to update my resume, it gives me a general review of what I have accomplished in the past year in my career. I want to highlight as much success as possible, including changes in operation efficiency, customer satisfaction, and show as much revenue generated in a fashion thats easily presentable. Projects and going above and beyond always helps as well. Overall, it just puts into perspective where I am at in my career and gives me direction on where to head moving in to the future.

I am well aware that the umemployment is soaring and I also know many friends are starting their MBA program. A friend told me right now, since the job market is weak, there are many young adults pursuing further education more than before. Before you know it, once the economy gets back on track, it will be saturated with experienced MBA graduates. So I better prepare myself and I am behind already. Studay GMAT? Get some computer/technical licenses in the interim? Find a focus?
Whatever I choose, I need to choose and go through with it. Sometimes, the hardest thing is to just pick up and go. Can anyone help me and offer some advice on how to just get started?
