It has been a roller coaster ride of a season and playoffs for these Los Angeles Lakers and by closing out the Orlando Magic this past Sunday in Game 5, they are once again the NBA champions. The significant meaning of this championship is evident by its historical importance. This will be Phil Jackson’s tenth NBA championship and he now surpasses Red Auerbach to be the greatest coach of the game of professional basketball. This will also be Kobe Bryant’s first without Shaquille O’Neal.
Our Zenmaster, maybe he'll get Ariza and Odom to return for less.
However, I think the biggest significance above all to me is the fact this time around, the championship was built not over night but over 7 years. Phil’s return and patience to teach and mentor this young group... Continue Reading...

Every day there are news stories where some are inspiring and some are funny. This story is on the inspiring side because it is of a man who never had an ounce of artistic talent who underwent a 16 hour surgery to recover and suddenly have amazing artistic talent! There truly is life after brain damage and I guess in this case, a blessing in disguise although he lost his ability to use his left arm. Which makes me wonder if artistic ability has anything to do with the right side of the brain? A great book for learning how to draw for people who never thought they were able to is the book The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain: A Course in Enhancing Creativity and Artistic Confidence which I personally bought to help me with my artistic side.
Now I wonder how many aspiring artists... Continue Reading...

Ever since the Tim Donaghy referee scandal tarnished the NBA last year, the league has been heavily repairing its image. The 2009 NBA playoffs has been one of the most exciting in recent memory because of the hard battles and games played so far evidenced in the Boston Celtics versus Chicago Bulls match up and the Los Angeles Lakers versus Houston Rockets match ups. However, a lot of this positive has been headlined by the piss poor refereeing that has been going on.
Here are several examples:
Boston Celtics versus Chicago Bulls
Rajon Rondo nearly takes off Brad Miller’s head yet its not called a flagrant foul.
Rajon Rondo throws an elbow at Kirk Hinrich yet no punishment is taken from the league.
Los Angeles Lakers versus Denver Nuggets
Dahntay Jones purposely trips Kobe Bryant;... Continue Reading...

I caught this on the Best Damn Sports Show last night where they showed a clip of an interview conducted last year by Ron Artest of Kobe Bryant. Artest’s looks like a kid all excited meeting his idol. No wonder Kobe’s got no respect of Artest’s game. It was nice to see the Lakers play last night with a sense of urgency and spanking the Houston Rockets by 40 points. The series goes back to Houston for game 6 with Lakers in a commanding 3-2 lead.
I just hope there is a repeat performance to close out the series rather than a repeat of last Sunday’s spanking by the Rockets.

Seriously, I still cannot believe how biased the NBA league is. Someone needs to flatten Rajon Rondo because he has got away with too much in this epic Celtics-Bulls series first round of the NBA playoffs. In Game 5, at the very last seconds of the game, Rajon Rondo clearly clothslined Brad Miller across the face yet it was called a normal foul. No technical, no flagrant and no suspension. Fine, Brad Miller missed both free throws and the Bulls go on to lose the game. So be it.
Game 6, another epic game where it went through three overtimes to settle the game. In the first quarter, again Rajon Rondo (antagonist here) skirmishes with Kirk Hinrich. If you watch the replays, Rondo and Hinrich are tied up and Rondo throws Hinrich into the scores table. A bit aggressive already... Continue Reading...
