Thats right; another write up of the iPhone 2.0 firmware upgrade from 1.1.4 firmware. There are reviews from Gizmodo and Engadget; but they released their articles too early. (As expected, causing problems for those that attempted to update their iPhone non-3G to 2.0 firmware.) Released from WinPwn, you will need to download WinPwn 2.0.0.2 (NOT 2.0.0.1 as I have tested and tried using it which failed).

The main point is that most articles or forums that will explain how to upgrade your iPhone from 1.1.4 to 2.0 will have you downloading WinPwn 2.0.0.1 and give bad instructions. However, I can vouch that after following these instructions; I have successfully updated my non 3G iPhone onto the 2.0 firmware.

Instructions provided from:

iClarified instructions for using WinPwn 2.0.0.2 to update to 2.0 firmware – Vista Screen Shots

Apple iPhone Apps instructions for using WinPwn to update to 2.0 firmware

I will write a more thorough review of my thoughts of going 2.0; so far; seems more stable than 1.1.3 but less responsive than 1.1.4. Love all the features but no more applications as Cydia is a bit bare at the moment.

Also, please NOTE that you have to use the *5A347_Restore.ipsw file and not the 345 image as it will not work.

Head on over to WinPwn.com and get started on getting your iPhone to be 2.0.

You can download WinPwn 2.0.0.2 Here and Here.
